We decided to take another look at the traditional recipe here at the Frantoio Gargiulo, and by adding a little milk and cream we have created a softer, sweeter version of this famous liqueur – and this is how the “Crema di Noci Gargiulo” was discovered. Our creamy version has a velvety smooth consistency and a distinct aroma of the famous Sorrentine Walnuts. Traditional enjoyed chilled, and a perfect accompaniment to dried fruits, chocolate, and ice cream.

Here in the Sorrentine Peninsula, alongside the famous citrus and olives you will also find another much loved tree – the Walnut Tree.
Walnuts have been cultivated here in this area since ancient times – and to prove that they even found fossilised walnut shells in the archaeological ruins of Herculaneum, and frescos with them in at the Villa dei Misteri in Pompei.
It’s very common here to find traditional dishes featuring walnuts – both sweet and savoury. And this is the star of the show in the famous liqueur “Nocino” – a strong and fragrant after dinner drink.
