Kapnios from Masseria Frattasi is a sublime expression of Campanian Aglianico, vinified only after the grapes have dried, fermented for 4 months, and aged for up to 24 months. The result is a complex wine, rich in aromas and with an intense, balanced, and lingering flavor.
A rare wine that will surprise you and offer unique sensations.
Upon visual examination, Kapnios presents a purple-red color. The olfactory hints remind of blackberries and blackcurrants, with notes of roasted coffee, chocolate, tobacco, and spices. On the palate, it is enveloping and soft. The tannin is present in an elegant and perfectly balanced manner.
Kapnios is an exceptional product that is made with an unconventional technique. The bunches are selected and dried in open-air fruit houses and, after several months, they are vinified following a very long fermentation. This is followed by a maturation for 18/24 months in new barriques.
This magnificent wine is perfect with roasts, red meats, and barbecues, but also excellent paired with meat sauces like the “Genovese” or Ragù. Its smoothness also makes it an excellent meditation wine to be enjoyed in front of the fireplace on winter evenings.
