This is really delving into the story of Italian Liqueur making – foremost due to its fragrant scent, unique taste and the fact that it is produced in only certain areas.
It’s not unusual here in the south of Italy to smell the scent of wild Fennel in the air, local the Mediterranean area, its seeds are used to flavour things such as breads, biscuits, salami and pasta dishes amongst other things.
This is something that the Gargiulo Frantoio just could not leave out – especially following the antique recipe. There are testimonies that go back as far as ‘300, mentioning this liqueur being made in monasteries.
