Ceramic jar with blue stripes filled with Limoncello of Sorrento – classic size 500 ml

At the beginning of the 1900’s some local farmers in the Sorrentine Peninsula started to experiment with their left over lemon rind. They found they could make a drink with an intense scent and taste – which actually went on to become one of the most well-known after dinner liqueurs in the world – Limoncello was born!

The potent yellow liquid was served from ceramic pourers to make it even more pleasurable to guests or at the end of a Sunday lunch at home.

This wonderful old photograph inspired us to recreate this traditional version with the blue stripes. 


The Limoncello IGP that we produce here at Gargiulo sticks fiercely to the traditional methods ensuring we offer the taste and smell of a time gone by. To enjoy the limoncello at its best, keep it stored in its ceramic bottle in the fridge.

Please note if you find any sediment in the bottom of your bottle this is just a testament to the natural process in which the product is made.
